Bannister Rd Kansas City MO 64131 RG 75, Subgroup: Sisseton-Wahpeton Agency File: Annuity Roll, 1891 The numbers on the original are not in the correct order, and the roll was transcribed exactly as it appears. Some entries have notes written in the margin. I have included these in parentheses when they were readable, but there is no way of knowing at what point in time they were added to the roll. Any information missing on the transcription is missing on the original. Heading- Top of first page- We, the heads of families and individuals without families, of the Sisseton and Wahpeton bands of Sioux Indians hereby acknowledge the receipt of three hundred seventy six thousand, five hundred seventy eight and 87/100 dollars ($376,578.87) from Samuel H. Elrod, U. S. Indian Agent, in the sums severally affixed to our names, being our proportion of that sum which (unreadable) by act of March 3, 1891, in compliance or with our agreement with the United States, ratified on that day which we accept as full payment for (unreadable) or may have for (unreadable) annuities under all treaties or acts of Congress to the 30 day of June, 1890. Elrod, Special Agent & etc, hereby certify on honor that the foregoing enrollment of the Sisseton and Wahpeton Bands of Sioux Indians parties to the agreement ratified by Congress March 3, 1891 was prepared by me, under instructions from the office of Indian Affairs dated April 1891, from the best information I could obtain, that this is correct and complete, to the best of my knowledge and belief, and that opposite Nos. 1 to 1663, it contains the names of every person properly entitled to be so enrolled, and no name is there which should not be there. Robertson We, the undersigned Headmen of the Sisseton and Wahpeton Bands of Sioux Indians, parties to the agreement ratified by Congress March 3, 1891, have closely examined and scrutinized the foregoing roll, prepared by Special Agent Samuel H. Elrod, and find that it is correct and complete, all those names should appear there, being there, and no name is on the roll which should not be there.
