This name is found with several different spellings on various documents.

There is a Solomon HORNER, on the 1880 Federal Census of Somerset Co., PA
however he is only 39 years old at the time and not possibly this same
person.

Roll of 171st Infantry is clearly written as:
HOUSEL, Solomon M.

Age: 27 
Enlisted Oct 24, 1862 from Somerset Co., PA
Mustered Nov 1, 1862 from Harrisburg, PA
